Beginner voice lessons

Whether you struggle with pitch, vocal control, or achieving your desired sound, learning to sing is no different than learning any other skill. It requires training and practise.

In the Beginner program, we will break down the complicated mechanics of voice production and control, and help you gain a deeper understanding of your voice. We will work with you to develop a plan designed specifically to help you reach your singing goals, and provide vocal exercises to practise in order to strengthen and condition your voice.

Advanced voice lessons

Singers at this level should prioritize maintaining their skills and ensuring proper voice technique to help with the longevity and strength of their voice during performances, tours and long recording sessions. Taking care of one’s voice is important, not only for working musicians, but for anyone whose job involves a lot of speaking, such as educators and keynote speakers. Our advanced program teaches clients how to maintain their overall voice health throughout the course of their career.

Performance skills

In our performance skills program, we go beyond the technical aspects of voice training, guiding you through the self-discovery process as we delve into what makes you who you are as a singer and performer: your inspirations, goals, and overall artistic vision. We help you to unify your sound and artist identity in order to stand out among the crowd.

All of these skills are then combined and applied towards improving stage presence, audience engagement, and memorable live performances.

Singing lessons are important no matter what level of singer you are

What to Expect

On your first day of voice lessons, we will begin by asking a few introductory questions:

  1. What experience do you have with singing?

  2. What are your singing goals?

  3. What brings you to voice lessons?

Next, we will guide you through a skills assessment, starting with a series of scales and vocal exercises, in order to identify your strengths and potential areas of improvement.

Lastly, we will select a song to sing. Clients often come in on their first day feeling nervous about having to sing. But something important to keep in mind is that the goal is not to impress us. This is not an audition. It is an opportunity to assess how your voice is functioning. If everything goes wrong, great! That will give us direction when determining what to focus on in your lessons.

What Sets Us Apart?

  • Our voice lessons are not “one size fits all”. We offer personalised plans based on the client’s goals and current skill level, taking into consideration vocal health/past injury.

  • Our feedback is practical. We will not bombard you with theoretical jargon. Instead, we offer constructive criticism in straightforward, easy to understand terms, and provide practical exercises to support your training. Our goal is to provide you with the tools you need to be the expert of your own voice.

  • You can expect consistency in your lessons from week to week. This allows you to build momentum and increase your skillset over time. No need to worry about being switched from teacher to teacher or having to start over. Our programs are designed to be ongoing. You can always pick up where you left off.

  • We’ll support your practice outside of lessons, by providing tools and resources catered to your needs, including video content, breathe-point maps, and additional workshops, such as Improv for Confidence and Songwriting 101.

  • Students work with an instructor with real music industry experience and vocal and artist performance experience.

Not only do we specialize in voice training, but we also offer insights into the industry based on more than 20 years of experience as a working musician.
